Online professional opportunities are geared toward undergraduate students while also lacking in clarity and requirements.

A post-COVID and test-optional college admissions process evaluates students outside of the classroom more than ever, and research/community listings are urgently searching for members.

BB&N Connect helps BB&N alumni with resources and support, but there is yet to be one geared toward current students that strives toward BB&N’s motto and mission of preparing “students to be responsible and open-minded as they engage with the world around them.”

Application Length: The number of pages or amount of information required to fill out the application form. A longer application with numerous fields to complete would be considered more tedious.

Required Materials: The need for additional documents such as essays, personal statements, recommendation letters, transcripts, or portfolios. The more materials required, the more tedious the application process.

Complexity of Questions: The difficulty or complexity of the questions asked in the application. Applications that require detailed and thoughtfully crafted responses, especially to open-ended or essay-type questions, can be more tedious.

Submission Process: The ease or difficulty of the submission process itself. This includes navigating the application portal, uploading documents, and ensuring all requirements are met. A cumbersome or glitchy submission process adds to the tediousness.

Time Investment: The overall time required to complete the application from start to finish. If an application demands significant time investment over days or weeks, it is considered more tedious.

“Acceptance Difficulty” refers to the level of competitiveness associated with being accepted into the program. It’s a measure of how challenging it is to gain admission, based on various factors like the number of applicants, the strictness of the selection criteria, and the limited number of available positions.

A higher rating (closer to 10) indicates a more competitive program where the likelihood of being accepted is lower. For example, the Research Science Institute scored a 9.7/10 since the program only accepts 50 students and many more apply.

While not always, a higher acceptance difficulty generally indicates that the program or opportunity is more prestigious or sought-after.
